PUTRAJAYA: All 222 Members of Parliament have tested negative for Covid-19, Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah revealed today.
He said the MPs and Parliament staff, totaling 750 people, were recently screened and tested for the virus.
"Yesterday was the last date (for Covid-19 tests). However, we will do (another round of tests) for one or two more days, with the results being reported the following day, within 24 hours.
"Alhamdulillah, none of them tested positive, as of now," he told a press conference today.
The tests were conducted ahead of the opening of the Dewan Rakyat on Monday in light of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Meanwhile, Parliament is taking preventive health measures by enforcing stringent Standard Operating Procedures at the Dewan Rakyat, including implementing social distancing, imposing a single-entry point with thermal scanner, and prohibiting visitors.
