Be truthful when filling up health declaration forms, those returning to Sabah told

KOTA KINABALU: Students or outsiders returning to Sabah have been urged to fill up the health declaration form honestly upon arrival at the Kota Kinabalu International Airport.

Sabah Health Department director Datuk Dr Christina Rundi (pic) said this measure was important as many of the Covid-19 cases here involved those with minimal or zero symptoms.

“After filling up their forms, these people will then get screened and have their health status evaluated and their samples taken for two tests, ” she said.

She added that those with symptoms will be referred to the hospital for further examination while those without symptoms will be asked to either self-quarantine at home or go to state government quarantine centres.

Dr Rundi said these steps are also needed to ensure that the chain of Covid-19 transmission can be contained and broken.

This reminder comes following the Federal Government’s decision to allow students to return to their hometowns starting this week.

She said the decision to allow a person to either self-quarantine at home or be sent to quarantine centres will be up to the health personnel on duty.

On related matters, Sabah’s Covid-19 cases increased by one to 312 on April 27.

Dr Rundi said the new case in Kota Kinabalu was detected from targeted screenings conducted by the Health Department since the end of March.
