KUCHING: Sarawak recorded eight new Person Under Investigation (PUI) cases for the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (Covid-19) today, said the State Disaster Management Committee.
The Committee stated that three of the cases were recorded at the Sarawak General Hospital, three at Sibu Hospital and two at Miri Hospital.
With these new cases, Sarawak has a cumulative total of 215 PUI cases as of Jan 10, of which 195 cases tested negative for the disease.
Twenty cases are awaiting results from laboratory testing, which include 12 cases at the Sarawak General Hospital, four in Sibu Hospital, two in Bintulu Hospital and two in Miri Hospital.
The state Health Department has until 11am Saturday screened 14,183 arrivals to the state at all airports, sea and land entry points to bring it to a total of 399,936 screened since Feb 1 this year.
The Department also advised those planning to travel to affected countries like China (including Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan), South Korea, Japan, Italy and Iran to postpone such trips.
Those who have travelled to any of these affected countries within the last 14 days and have developed a fever or suffer from coughing and breathing difficulties must seek immediate medical attention and must inform the doctors attending to them of their travel history.
Doctors who come across any suspected Covid-19 cases must notify the State Health Department at 082-443247 or the Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre at its email firstname.lastname@example.org.
