BELURAN: Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal confirmed sending a letter requesting to table a motion of confidence on former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
"Yes," he said when asked to comment on the matter after visiting Terusan Sapi rice plantation factory, here, today.
"Just wait when the time comes for the sitting," he added, declining to elaborate.
Dewan Rakyat is expected to convene on May 18.
It was reported that the May 1 letter, which had gone viral, was addressed to Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Mohamad Ariff Md Yusof.
In the letter, Shafie notified Ariff of his intention to table the motion in order to demonstrate that Dr Mahathir, who is Langkawi member of parliament, still commanded a majority support in the Dewan Rakyat.
Ariff today confirmed that the letter from Shafie was authentic and has asked the media to wait for a full press statement from the office of the Dewan Rakyat Secretary.
However, it was learnt that he had rejected Shafie's request in a letter dated May 5.
