PETALING JAYA: Umno is unfazed by the leaked audio recording, allegedly of a Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia meeting that occurred before Malaysia's political turmoil in February.
Its secretary-general Tan Sri Annuar Musa (pic) said that whatever transpired in the audio recording was an internal party matter in Bersatu.
"Whatever recording or reported versions that happened in Bersatu and Pakatan Harapan last February or before is not a problem for Umno, Barisan Nasional and Muafakat Nasional (an alliance with PAS).
"That is an internal party affair," he said on his Twitter account on Sunday (May 31).
Annuar, who is also Federal Territories Minister, said he will continue to support the leadership of Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as the Prime Minister, and will remain focused on the agenda to defend the people.
He added that the politicking should also stop.
On Saturday (May 30), an audio recording of a male voice, which sounded like Muhyiddin, was heard proposing in the meeting that allegedly took place on Feb 23, for Bersatu to join forces with Umno to form the largest political party in the country.
The man also said that the plan could be executed with Bersatu leaders approaching Umno members – including former premier Datuk Seri Najib Razak – and offering them positions in the new government.
In the audio recording, the male voice was also heard proposing to entice Umno MPs to join Bersatu by offering them positions in the new government such as ministerial roles as well as chairmen of government-linked corporations (GLCs).
